BOBBY FISCHER WAS BORN ON March 9, 1943. HE IS AN eccentric genius who became America's only world chess champion by humbling the Soviet Union's best In 1972, he became the first and the only American to win the official World Chess Championship Boris spassky.Later,he forfeited the title to another soviet anatoly karpov, when he refused to defeat it. he then fell into the obscurity before resurfacing to play the exhibition rematch against spassky.

Fischer was arrested at Narita International Airport in Narita, Japan, near Tokyo for allegedly using a revoked U.S. passport while trying to board a Japan Airlines flight to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, Philippines. he spent 9 months in custody before the dispute was resolved when iceland-a chess mad nation and site of his great triumph-granted him citizenship.In the final years,fischer railed against the chess establishment,alleged that the outcomes of many top-level chess matches are decided in advance.

HIS LEGENDARY WORKS :

He was considered the greatest practitioner of the White side of the Ruy Lopez; a line of the Exchange Variation (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Bxc6 dxc6 5.0-0) is sometimes called the "Fischer variation" after he successfully revived it at the 1966 Havana Olympiad. Fischer was well known for his opening preparation, and made numerous contributions to chess opening theory. He was also an expert in the Black side of the Najdorf Sicilian, King's Indian Defense,Grünfeld Defence,Nimzo-Indian Defence.

HIS DEMISE:

Fischer had been suffering from an unnatural illness. He stayed at a Reykjavík Landsspítali hospital in October and November 2007, but he returned home gravely ill in December, rejecting any further Western medicine. On January 17, 2008, he died from kidney failure at the age of 64 in his home in Reykjavík.
